In frangipani he was gowned
And laid in final radiant rest
The first and last, my heart’s love found
A secret passion, I attest
Well spent, the silent loyal years
Secluded in my far-off towers
For I wrote lines with ink of tears
But no regret for youth’s lost hours
There is no gift not bought with pain
Nor fealty with price unpaid
I ne’er will say I loved in vain
Just bury me ‘mid poems arrayed.
